AA General Manager Karagöz: “Artificial Intelligence is Reshaping the Accuracy of Journalism”
AA General Manager Serdar Karagöz stated that artificial intelligence is reshaping the accuracy and ethical standards of journalism.
BTA General Manager Valchev: “Artificial Intelligence Will Never Replace Humans”
In his opening speech, BTA General Manager Kiril Valchev highlighted that the conference, hosted by AA, serves as an example that artificial intelligence will never replace human communication. He stated, “I cannot imagine a place where artificial intelligence would replace humans, who are God’s natural creation. However, AI can assist people in many areas of life, primarily for time-saving purposes.”
Valchev emphasized that journalists, who possess jobs involving big data usage, must manage AI in a way that helps people use their natural intelligence more efficiently. He further stated that AI cannot replace the role of a reporter at the scene. “Because AI works with past accumulated data, it cannot process news in real-time. New technologies can only complement journalism, not replace it,” he said.
New Technologies Can Complement, But Not Replace Journalism
Valchev also pointed out that media organizations could benefit from using AI to enhance their operations, particularly in selecting important news and facilitating news exchange between agencies that publish in different languages.
The Importance of Human Factor: Education and Collaboration
Valchev stressed that while journalists could be trained on how to use AI, it cannot replace the collaboration between people. He highlighted that human cooperation will always remain crucial.
Finally, Valchev thanked AA’s General Manager Serdar Karagöz for hosting the conference as the ABNA-SE Presidency.
