Serbia’s Ambassador to Ankara, Aca Jovanovic, visited AA on November 26, 2024. The Ambassador was welcomed by AA’s Chairman of the Board and General Director Serdar Karagöz, AA’s Deputy General Manager and General Broadcast Manager Yusuf Özhan, and the Director of Strategic Communications and Brand Management Hazal Duran.
Balkans and Turkey Relations
At the beginning of the visit, Serdar Karagöz, Chairman of AA, emphasized the importance of the Balkans for Turkey during his meeting with Ambassador Jovanovic. Karagöz stated, “As an international news agency, our focus is on the Balkans, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. We are also highly active in the United States. We closely follow conflict zones,” highlighting AA’s global news network’s expansion and significance. Karagöz noted that the economic, political, and diplomatic relations between Turkey and Serbia are at a very good level and stated that AA contributes to these relations with its work.
AA’s Publishing Policy and Praise from Serbia
Ambassador Jovanovic expressed his appreciation for AA’s publications in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin (BHSC), stating that he follows them closely. He mentioned, “AA’s unbiased publications are very important for the foundations of the future,” acknowledging the AA’s objective and multilingual approach to broadcasting. After presenting his letter of credence in July, Jovanovic reiterated his interest in AA’s work and expressed his pleasure in being in Ankara.
At the end of the visit, Ambassador Jovanovic signed AA’s guestbook. Additionally, AA General Director Serdar Karagöz presented the Ambassador with a plaque featuring a photograph of the ancient city of Ephesus in İzmir.
