Observer: Wildlife Photography with Alper Tüydeş” Talk Held at AA

In the “Observer: Wildlife Photography with Alper Tüydeş” talk held at Anadolu, photographer Alper Tüydeş provided information about wildlife and the effects of climate change.

Speaking at the program moderated by AA Visual News Director Fırat Yurdakul in the AAtölye, Tüydeş stated that wildlife photographers are also observers and, unlike bird watchers, wildlife photographers share snapshots from their observations.

Alper Tüydeş explained that thanks to bird watchers and wildlife photographers, bird migrations can be observed, which helps in predicting climate changes in advance. He continued:

“There is an international database called eBird. Tens of thousands of bird watchers from all over the world enter the data of the birds they see there. For example, information about species that should be in the south moving to higher regions over time is available there. Birds tell us this 15-20 days in advance. The Cream-colored Courser, once rarely seen around Urfa, has now become a species seen in most of our southeastern regions. This tells us a lot.”

“Desert climate bird species have started to appear in Istanbul” Alper Tüydeş said that bird activity provides information about climate changes, stating, “Desert climate bird species have started to appear in Istanbul. The breeding areas of some species are changing.”

Tüydeş noted that human intervention disrupts the balance in natural life, saying, “Nothing in the natural cycle is dependent on us. Nature existed before us.”

In response to a question about street animals, Alper Tüydeş said, “Stray animals negatively affect not only humans but also wildlife. Being on the streets is harmful to them as well. There are concrete and striking examples.”
