AA President-CEO Karagöz Speaks at the Opening of the New Academic Year at Medipol University’s Faculty of Communication

Serdar Karagöz, the President-CEO of Anadolu, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year at Medipol University’s Faculty of Communication. In his remarks, Karagöz shared important updates about Anadolu’s future, emphasizing their integration with artificial intelligence and their transformation into a media technology company.

Anadolu’s New Vision: A Media Technology Company

Serdar Karagöz discussed Anadolu’s 104-year history and its new vision. He highlighted that the organization is now transitioning into a “media technology company,” stating, “We are reshaping all our processes in collaboration with artificial intelligence. This is our new vision for Anadolu.” Karagöz emphasized that Anadolu is now positioned as a media technology company in international competition.

Investing in the Future with Artificial Intelligence

Karagöz pointed out the rapid development of artificial intelligence and discussed how Anadolu is not only consuming this technology but also producing it. He stated, “We will soon offer our own language-based AI to you.” Karagöz explained that they have taken significant steps in collaboration with the T3 Foundation to produce AI that caters specifically to Anadolu’s needs.

Cultural Hegemony and Editorial Stance

Karagöz spoke about the fight against cultural hegemony in the media world and how Anadolu is working to spread the truth. He addressed the Israeli genocide in Gaza, explaining how cultural hegemons distort such events. “We at Anadolu are fighting this cultural hegemony,” Karagöz said, stressing that they will continue to focus on truth, justice, and goodness in their reporting.

Anadolu’s Innovative Efforts

Karagöz also shared some of the technological innovations within Anadolu, including the production of drones for news gathering. He explained, “Our news drone is currently in the air, following events and transmitting live updates to our newsroom and broadcasts.” This showcases how Anadolu has truly transformed into a media technology company.

The Role of Communicators and Future Perspectives

Karagöz offered valuable advice to students on the evolving role of communicators in the future. He highlighted how artificial intelligence and technology will bring major changes to the media industry, and that communicators who adapt to these changes will succeed. He also emphasized that understanding artificial intelligence will be crucial for future professionals, saying, “Anyone who has not encountered artificial intelligence will not find a place within our organization.”

Anadolu’s Global Vision

Karagöz concluded by stating that Anadolu’s goal is to become the best news organization globally. He mentioned that Anadolu reporters are active in every district in Turkey, and the organization is present in over 137 countries. Anadolu will continue to be an influential media entity both within Turkey and around the world.

At the end of the speech, Medipol University’s Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Recep Öztürk and Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Büyükaslan presented Karagöz with a plaque.
