26th Term War Journalism Training Begins

A Vital Training for Journalists

The 26th Term War Journalism Certification Program, organized in collaboration between AA Academy and the Police Academy Presidency, has started in Ankara with the participation of 25 journalists from 15 different countries.

War Journalism: Experience and Updated Training Content

AA Academy and Publishing Coordinator Yahya Bostan stated that 558 journalists have been trained so far and that the training content is continuously updated. Among the participants is Mustafa Hassouna, a photojournalist from Gaza.

Bostan emphasized that journalists today face increasing threats and highlighted the importance of war correspondents not only reporting the truth but also ensuring their own survival. The program includes practical exercises with live ammunition, water survival training, and advanced driving techniques.

War Journalists: Witnesses of Difficult Times

TİKA Vice President Rahman Nurdun stated that war correspondents do more than just report the news—they bear witness to humanity’s most challenging moments. He emphasized the role of journalism in raising public awareness and noted that participants will have the opportunity to develop essential professional skills in this program.

An Internationally Recognized Certification Program

Police Academy Vice President Fatih İnal stated that the program is the world’s only internationally recognized war correspondence certification program. The training covers 26 different subjects, ranging from journalism and personal security to the laws of war and first aid, and will last for 12 days.

A Realistic and Intensive Training Process

Supported by AA, the General Directorate of Security, the Turkish Armed Forces, and AFAD, the program includes a total of 108 hours of training. Participants will experience real-world scenarios through practical exercises, including live ammunition drills and night camps.

Since AA launched this program in 2012, a total of 558 media professionals, including 197 foreign journalists, have received training. The 26th Term War Journalism Training aims to equip war correspondents with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively while ensuring their safety in challenging environments.
