Historic Medal at Paris 2024

The Classical Bow Men’s National Team, which made history by winning a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, visited AA. Mete Gazoz, Ulaş Berkim Tümer, and Muhammed Abdullah Yıldırmış, who secured Turkey’s first-ever Olympic medal in team sports, were welcomed by AA General Manager Serdar Karagöz and AA Deputy General Manager Yusuf Özhan.

The visit was also attended by the President of the Turkish Archery Federation, Abdullah Topaloğlu, and the National Archery Teams’ Head Coach, Göktuğ Ergin. During the reception held at AAtölye, the national athletes’ historic achievement and their Olympic journey were discussed.

AA General Manager Karagöz: “We Are Proud”

AA General Manager Serdar Karagöz expressed his pride in the national athletes. Highlighting the cultural and social significance of sports, Karagöz engaged in a pleasant conversation about the Olympic Games and the sport of archery.

Speaking at the visit, the President of the Turkish Archery Federation, Abdullah Topaloğlu, extended his gratitude to AA for its support of the archery discipline.

Meaningful Exchange of Gifts

At the end of the visit, Serdar Karagöz presented the national athletes with the AA 1923 Yearbook. In return, Turkish Archery Federation President Abdullah Topaloğlu, National Team Coach Göktuğ Ergin, and the national athletes gifted Karagöz a signed national team jersey.

By securing this historic medal, the Classical Bow Men’s National Team has made a significant contribution to the development of Turkish archery and has proudly represented Turkey on the international stage.

President of the Gagauzia Autonomous Region, Evghenia Gutul, visited Anadolu Agency’s (AA) International News Center in Istanbul.

During the visit, Gutul and her delegation met with AA Publications and Productions Coordinator Oğuz Karakaş and AA Marketing and Business Development Director Erman Yüksel.

In the meeting, Gutul provided information about the social, political, and economic conditions of the Gagauzia Autonomous Region.

The discussion also covered potential areas of partnership and collaboration. Vasili Dermenji, Executive Director of the Gagauzia Radio Television (GRT) Institution, and Anastasia Ciolac, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Gagauzia Autonomous Region, who were part of Gutul’s delegation, expressed their interest in benefiting from Turkey’s successful experience in the broadcasting sector and content production.

AA Publications and Productions Coordinator Karakaş and AA Marketing and Business Development Director Yüksel briefed Gutul and her delegation on AA’s operations and discussed potential opportunities for collaboration in news production and content.

At the end of the meeting, the delegations took a group photo.

In collaboration with Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications, the country’s global news agency Anadolu started a three-day visual journalism training program for Libyan journalists in Ankara on Monday.

Libyan journalists participating in the program will receive training from colleagues who have gained experience in the field. After receiving their certificates, the journalists will also take part in a cultural excursion program.

“We continue to host our colleagues from all over the world and brotherly geographies,” said Anadolu’s Academy Director Zeynep Bayramoglu Ozturk, noting that nine Libyan journalists have already received training at the Anadolu Academy.

Ozturk highlighted that Anadolu operates in 144 countries and has 39 bureaus and broadcasting centers worldwide.

Furthermore, she mentioned that the news agency, with subscribers in 76 countries, distributes content in 13 languages and in 2023 alone, it generated 2.1 million pieces of content.

Anadolu’s daily average number of news stories is 1,368, she said.

Ozturk pointed out that the Anadolu Images portal, which offers access to Anadolu’s photographs and videos from all over the world, has been serving subscribers since 2014.

She underlined that the Anadolu Academy provides practical and systematic training for journalists to adapt to developments in the media, new platforms and technologies.

The news agency trained 1,413 in-house and 170 external journalists in a variety of subjects in 2023, Ozturk added.

Partnership with Reuters subsidiary Screenocean to make Anadolu’s content more visible globally, says marketing, business development director

Anadolu on Wednesday signed an agreement with Reuters affiliate Screenocean on video content distribution. 

The partnership deal was signed in London between Anadolu’s Marketing and Business Development Director Erman Yuksel and Screenocean Managing Director Ali Blake.

“As Anadolu Agency, we have included another important brand among our global business partners,” Yuksel said during the ceremony.

He noted that the partnership with Screenocean, a Reuters subsidiary that serves as a video and photo content distribution platform, will make Anadolu’s content more visible in documentaries and films globally.

At the event, held in collaboration with Spanish, Italian, and Greek news agencies, Anadolu’s President and CEO Serdar Karagoz stresses the urgent need for action against forest fires due to their potential for irreversible ecosystem damage

A photo exhibition spotlighting climate change and environmental concerns, titled “Our Green Line: Environment,” welcomed visitors in Ankara, Türkiye’s capital. 

The initiative, spearheaded by Anadolu in collaboration with Spain’s EFE, Italy’s ANSA, and Greece’s AMNA news agencies, marked a significant milestone in environmental awareness. 

Anadolu’s President and CEO, Serdar Karagoz, opened the event, joined by Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Abdulkadir Polat, AMNA’s General Manager, Aimilios Perdikaris, and dignitaries from diplomatic missions and the press.


In his keynote address, Karagoz underscored the urgent need to address forest fires, cautioning against their potential to inflict irreparable harm on ecosystems by reminding experts’ warnings.

“This permanent ecosystem destruction has profound implications for human health and the future of humanity,” he cautioned, emphasizing that the exhibition aims to underscore the urgency of global climate change and environmental issues.


Karagoz noted Anadolu’s launch of the Green Line in 2022, an editorial initiative aimed at raising awareness about climate change and environmental issues, and highlighted the agency’s Environment Forum held in October 2022, which attracted international climate and environmental experts.
  

Importance of climate journalism

Regarding environmental and climate journalism, Karagoz mentioned a joint declaration with ANSA, AMNA, and EFE at the forum to raise awareness in media and society about protecting Mediterranean forests.

He emphasized that the exhibition will feature “striking visuals” depicting recent global climate change and environmental challenges.


Highlighting the role of media in combating environmental degradation, Karagoz stressed that the concept of environmental and climate journalism has gained prominence in recent years.


He expressed hope that guests would be impressed by the exhibition’s photos, emphasizing their importance in raising awareness.

Speaking at the event, AMNA General Manager Perdikaris also expressed gratitude for the invitation and stressed the importance of cooperation in addressing the climate crisis.


“In such matters, cooperation is paramount,” Perdikaris remarked, underscoring the significance of raising awareness about climate change.

Deputy Minister Polat expressed pleasure in attending the exhibition’s opening, thanking Anadolu for organizing the event.

He highlighted climate change as one of humanity’s greatest challenges, with many international institutions working to address it.


Polat pointed out that the photo exhibition focuses on climate change and environmental issues, including prevalent natural disasters in recent years, and emphasized the role of international news agencies in raising global awareness and promoting environmental consciousness.


Following the speeches, Karagoz presented tree planting certificates to protocol and foreign agency representatives and reviewed the displayed photographs with guests.


Featuring 50 photos, the exhibition showcases images addressing climate change and environmental issues, both physically and digitally, will remain open to the public free of charge at the Sokratin Gallery in the One Tower shopping mall until 31 August.
